Teaching Expert (Research Project)
Mercor is recruiting middle and high school teachers to benchmark and shape the next wave of educational AI. You’ll design realistic classroom scenarios and iterate directly with researchers.
The project moves quickly: expect short sprints, collaborative reviews, and the chance to see your expertise guide how models respond to real instructional challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop scenarios: Collaborate on lesson prompts, student work samples, rubrics, and classroom what-ifs.
- Review AI responses: Evaluate clarity, logic, differentiation, and pedagogical accuracy in generated outputs.
- Document feedback: Provide actionable notes that improve future prompts and evaluation frameworks.
- Iterate with the team: Join focused sprints, experimenting with approaches and adapting as the research evolves.
Ideal Qualifications
- 3+ years teaching full-time at the middle or high school level in the US or Canada.
- Strength in lesson design, assessment, and written feedback.
- Comfort researching online, synthesizing information, and writing concisely.
- Collaborative mindset with willingness to iterate on project structure.
Project Timeline
- Start: ASAP (rolling onboarding).
- Duration: 6–8 weeks.
- Commitment: Around 30 hours per week, remote and flexible.
- Compensation: $50–$70/hour plus bonus incentives up to $100/hour for top performers.
