Mercor is hiring experienced legal professionals to benchmark cutting-edge legal AI. You-TMll draft realistic scenarios, review model outputs, and help researchers push accuracy into production.

This is a collaborative, iterative project: you-TMll work closely with Mercor-TMs product team to stress-test prompts, refine evaluation rubrics, and ship improvements quickly.

Key Responsibilities

The Law Expert (Research Project) role is a remote contract position paying $90-$120/hr. It suits experienced professionals who want flexible, project-based AI work reviewed on a rolling basis. You collaborate directly with client teams on real deliverables that help train and evaluate next-generation AI systems, with no long-term commitment required.

• Design legal scenarios: Collaborate with researchers to create briefs, memos, discovery tasks, and case studies that mirror real client work.
• Draft and review outputs: Write and critique legal-style prompts and responses for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to legal standards.
• Deliver feedback: Note issues in reasoning, citations, and tone, and suggest improvements grounded in practical experience.
• Iterate with the team: Participate in focused sprints, adjusting workflows as the project evolves.

Ideal Qualifications

• Licensed attorney in the United States or Canada.
• 3+ years of practice at a top law firm or in-house at a leading company.
• Strength in legal research, drafting, and analysis across corporate, regulatory, or litigation matters.
• Excellent written communication and collaborative mindset.

Project Timeline

• Start: October 3 (immediate onboarding).
• Duration: 6-"8 weeks with potential follow-on work.
• Commitment: Approximately 30 hours per week, remote and flexible.
• Compensation: $90-"$110/hour plus bonus incentives up to $20-"$100/hour for top performers.
