Mercor is hiring experienced mechanical engineers to collaborate with a leading AI research lab on a focused evaluation sprint.

You will stress-test AI systems that replicate mechanical engineering workflows and supply the expert judgement that keeps outputs accurate and production ready.

Key Responsibilities

• Create complex mechanical engineering challenge problems drawn from real-world systems and failure modes.
• Evaluate AI-generated calculations, diagrams, and written responses for conceptual accuracy and technical rigor.
• Provide concise, constructive written feedback on problem sets, designs, and solution steps.
• Partner asynchronously with AI researchers to iterate on prompts and evaluation criteria as models improve.

Ideal Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Track record of communicating engineering reviews clearly in writing and collaborative documents.
• Sharp analytical judgement with the ability to spot subtle mechanical edge cases and calculation errors.
• Comfort working independently in remote, async environments with quick turnaround expectations.
