Mercor is hiring manufacturing-focused mechanical engineers to create product design and troubleshooting scenarios that train AI models.

Mercor is partnering with an AI lab to document how mechanical engineers solve real manufacturing challenges.

Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineers (Manufacturing) role is a remote contract position paying $110-$125/hr. It suits experienced professionals who want flexible, project-based AI work reviewed on a rolling basis. You collaborate directly with client teams on real deliverables that help train and evaluate next-generation AI systems, with no long-term commitment required.

• Write tasks and scenarios that reflect real-world mechanical engineering work in manufacturing.
• Create realistic situations involving product design, prototyping, testing, and production optimization.
• Develop scenarios for troubleshooting equipment, analyzing mechanical systems, and implementing design improvements.
• Review and evaluate AI responses to mechanical engineering queries for accuracy and technical precision.
• Provide detailed feedback on manufacturing engineering scenarios to improve AI training.

Ideal Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in a mechanical engineering role in manufacturing.
• Demonstrated professional recognition and management responsibilities.
• Proficient with computers and experienced with engineering software tools.
• Excellent written communication with strong grammar and spelling skills.
• Ability to pass a video interview, background check, training, and qualification quiz.

More About the Opportunity

• Fully remote and asynchronous - complete work on your own schedule.
• Expected workload: 20+ hours per week with flexibility to scale up to 40 hours.
• Project start date: immediate, with engagements lasting around six weeks.

Compensation & Contract Terms

• $110-$125/hour with weekly payouts via Stripe Connect.
• Independent contractor engagement through Mercor.
• Hourly compensation is paid weekly via Stripe Connect.
• Payments are based on services rendered, and contractors maintain full control over their work schedule and methods.
