What the work actually involves
Taken from the live listings themselves:
- We are building a large set of evaluation tasks for the construction and property field.
- Each task starts from real drawings, documents and site photos, and asks for the same structured deliverable you would produce at work: an RFI response, a coordination comment set, a marked-up set.
- The research teams behind the best-known AI models come to Mercor for design and creative judgment they can't generate on their own.
- Your standards and expertise become the rubric that frontier AI is graded against.
Typical responsibilities
Pulled from the live listings in this category:
- Evaluate and solve advanced circuit design and electrical engineering problems across multiple domains, including analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, and RF circuits.
- Review and assess AI-generated technical responses for technical correctness, accuracy, and engineering quality.
- Apply practical engineering judgment to real-world design scenarios and theoretical questions.
- Analyze and troubleshoot a wide range of circuit types using industry-standard techniques such as Kirchhoff's laws, node-voltage analysis, small-signal analysis, and phasor analysis.
- Contribute domain expertise to inform model improvements and refine AI reasoning in electrical and circuit design.
- Document feedback and provide clear written and verbal explanations to enhance AI learning and performance.
What employers ask for
- An MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; or
- A BS in Electrical Engineering plus at least 1 to 2 years of relevant professional circuit-design experience.
- Meaningful experience designing analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits.
- Experience with designs that were fabricated, integrated, shipped, or taped out, not only simulated.
- Practical proficiency with Python and coding agents
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, or BS in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
How the pay is spread
Half of the listings with a published rate fall between $60 and $115 an hour. The bottom of the range is $15 and the top is $350. Rate depends far more on credentials and specialism than on which platform you use.
Which platform to start with
micro1 currently lists the most roles in this category (10 of 19). Platforms differ mainly in eligibility and how they screen, not in the kind of work. See which platforms hire in your country before you spend time on applications.
How to apply
Applications are completed on the hiring platform, not on this site. Most of these platforms screen with a short qualification step before routing you to paid work, so a complete profile matters more than a long cover letter. Applying is free and none of these platforms charge a fee to start.
