Civic and Public Administration Expert
Role Overview
- Mercor is seeking senior civic and public administration professionals to build evaluation tasks for AI systems operating in large government and public-sector contexts.
- The workflows are calibrated to the regulatory complexity, stakeholder scale, and public accountability stakes of federal, state, and major municipal government operations.
- Contributors design public-sector scenarios, draft reference outputs, and write rubrics that capture how senior government and civic leaders think.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct public-sector scenarios spanning large-scale budget appropriations, multi-agency coordination, and complex regulatory or legislative review cycles at federal, state, and municipal levels.
- Build civic tasks across public policy analysis, constituent services delivery, intergovernmental relations, public communications, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop public administration scenarios involving tools such as government ERP/case management systems, public records platforms, GIS systems, and constituent relationship management (CRM) tools used across agencies.
- Apply public administration frameworks (policy impact analysis, cost-benefit analysis, administrative rulemaking, stakeholder engagement models) and produce reference policy briefs, agency strategies, and executive/legislative communications.
- Author rubrics that distinguish authentic public-sector judgment from generic bureaucratic or textbook recall.
Ideal Qualifications
- 5+ years working in a senior capacity at a federal, state, or large municipal government agency, or within a major public policy, civic tech, or intergovernmental organization.
- Direct ownership of agency programs, public policy initiatives, or constituent-facing service delivery at scale.
- Fluency in government processes and tooling, plus understanding of how public budgets, procurement, legislative review, and regulatory compliance actually work.
- Prior rubric, public-sector training curriculum, or policy documentation authorship is a plus.
