Fluent English required. Mercor partners with leading AI teams to improve the quality, usefulness, and reliability of conversational AI systems used in real-world engineering contexts.

This project focuses on engineering-specific model behavior: technical accuracy, applied reasoning, quantitative precision, and practical problem-solving across multiple engineering disciplines.

What You'll Do

• Write and refine prompts to guide model behavior in engineering scenarios.
• Evaluate LLM responses for technical accuracy, applied reasoning, and completeness; fact-check technical claims using authoritative sources and engineering judgment.
• Annotate outputs with strengths, weaknesses, and factual or conceptual errors; assess clarity and suitability for different audiences.
• Apply consistent evaluation standards using clear taxonomies, benchmarks, and detailed review guidelines.

Who You Are

• You hold a PhD in Engineering or a closely related field and communicate complex technical ideas clearly in English.
• You have deep expertise in one or more domains: Mechanical and Physical Systems, Electrical/Electronic/Computer, Chemical/Materials/Process, or Civil/Environmental/Infrastructure engineering.
• You have significant hands-on experience using LLMs and understand practical usage patterns and failure modes.
• You are detail-oriented and experienced in technical or academic writing review; bonus for RLHF, model evaluation, annotation, teaching, or mentoring experience.

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor in a fully remote role on your own schedule.
• Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on performance and project needs.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from employers, clients, or institutions.
• Payments are weekly via Stripe or Wise. Mercor cannot support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time.
