Mercor is partnering with a top AI research lab to bring in food professionals who can design, evaluate, and improve realistic culinary workflows that train advanced AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

The Food Expert role is a remote contract position paying $35-$50/hr. It suits experienced professionals who want flexible, project-based AI work reviewed on a rolling basis. You collaborate directly with client teams on real deliverables that help train and evaluate next-generation AI systems, with no long-term commitment required.

• Create and assess complex food-focused tasks spanning culinary knowledge, nutrition, food culture, and dining experiences.
• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, practicality, and alignment with real-world food and culinary workflows.
• Provide clear, detailed written feedback on food-related content and recommendations.
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and engineers to iterate on model performance.
• Ensure all training and evaluation content reflects culinary and food industry standards.

Ideal Qualifications

• Deep personal or professional experience with food, cooking, culinary arts, nutrition, or related consumer-facing industries.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, dining cultures, cuisines, and consumer preferences.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving.
• Prior experience in culinary arts, hospitality, food writing, or content creation is a plus.
• U.S.-based with valid work authorization.

Project Timeline

• Start date: Immediate.
• Duration: 1-2 months with potential extension.
• Commitment: Part-time at approximately 20 hours per week with potential to extend to 40 hours.
• Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous with flexible working hours.

Compensation & Contract

• Competitive hourly rate of $35-$50 USD based on experience.
• Top performers receive weekly bonus incentives ranging from $20-$100 per hour.
• Independent contractor role with daily payments via Stripe Connect.
• Payments are based on services rendered, and you maintain control over your methods and schedule.
