No prior experience in AI is required your domain knowledge is what matters. This opportunity enables you to impact the future of engineering by ensuring that AI systems can accurately interpret, solve, and explain complex computational fluid dynamics challenges across mesh generation, turbulence modeling, multiphase and heat-transfer simulation, solver setup, and verification & validation. Contributors who value accuracy, technical depth, and clear communication both written and verbal will find this engagement uniquely rewarding and influential.
Scope of Work
- Evaluate and solve advanced CFD challenges involving mesh generation, turbulence modeling, multiphase flow, heat transfer, and solver configuration.
- Review and assess AI-generated technical responses for correctness, accuracy, and engineering integrity.
- Apply practical engineering judgment to simulation scenarios and theoretical fluid-dynamics questions.
- Analyze and troubleshoot CFD problems using best practices such as mesh independence, turbulence model selection, boundary-condition specification, and convergence analysis.
- Contribute domain expertise to refine and inform the reasoning capabilities of AI in computational fluid dynamics.
- Document feedback and provide clear written and verbal explanations that enhance AI learning and performance.
- Collaborate remotely within a distributed network of technical experts and project participants.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on fluid dynamics or thermofluids; or equivalent practical experience (3+ years) in CFD.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience conducting and validating CFD simulations, including mesh generation, solver setup, turbulence modeling, multiphase/heat-transfer analysis, or post-processing in industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy, marine, HVAC, process, or biomedical.
- Deep understanding of Navier-Stokes equations, turbulence modeling (RANS, LES, DES), meshing strategies, boundary-condition specification, and verification & validation practices.
- Proven ability to analyze and validate fluid flow, heat-transfer, and multiphysics problems using CFD tools, cross-referencing with experimental or analytical data.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and practices (e.g., ASME V&V 20, AIAA CFD verification & validation, ITTC procedures).
- Excellent English proficiency with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with CFD software (such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, COMSOL, or Converge) is a strong plus, as is a documented history of problem-authoring, technical committee service, competition leadership, or peer-recognized contributions in the CFD community.
