Mercor is recruiting retail loss prevention experts to build surveillance and investigation scenarios that train AI systems.

Mercor is partnering with an AI lab to document how retail investigators prevent loss, document evidence, and collaborate with law enforcement.

Key Responsibilities

• Write tasks and scenarios that reflect real-world loss prevention and investigative work in retail.
• Create realistic situations involving surveillance operations, shoplifting incidents, theft investigations, and evidence documentation.
• Develop scenarios for apprehending suspects, writing incident reports, conducting interviews, and coordinating with law enforcement.
• Review and evaluate AI responses to retail security and investigation queries for accuracy and professional standards.
• Provide detailed feedback on loss prevention scenarios to improve AI training.

Ideal Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience as a private detective or investigator in retail trade.
• Demonstrated professional recognition and management responsibilities.
• Proficient with computers and experienced navigating various software systems.
• Excellent written communication with strong grammar and spelling skills.
• Ability to pass a video interview, background check, training, and qualification quiz.

• Fully remote and asynchronous — complete work on your own schedule.
• Expected workload: 20+ hours per week with flexibility to scale up to 40 hours.
• Project start date: immediate, with engagements lasting around six weeks.

Compensation & Contract Terms

• $40-$55/hour with weekly payments through Stripe Connect.
• Independent contractor engagement through Mercor.
• Hourly compensation is paid weekly via Stripe Connect.
• Payments are based on services rendered, and contractors maintain full control over their work schedule and methods.
